Animation 2 : Chronogram Study

Updated: Mar 1, 2023

As an exercise prior to the production of the finalised animation I have developed drawings to discuss the desired spatial characteristics and tones of the project. It illustrates the second animation as a sequence over a 4 minute time-frame.

This animation will discuss the 'location' of the heritage object and what this architecture of conservation is. It does so through a photogrammetry recording of two buildings in Huddersfield under conservation and featuring a canvas image of themselves. It raises questions about the continuity of heritage objects and how this perceived consecutive element can support a building's status. However, when taken as isolated recorded objects a building can be alienated from this palimpsest process, as is illustrated by the sterile images projected atop the scaffolding.

A building under-repair has a vital element, it shows something that evolves changes and is under-discussion, however do the images placed to hide this process illustrate our real detachment from what lies beneath?
