Animation 1 - Ephemeral Territories - Concept Drawing

This sequence admits ephemeral, shifting territories, into the space of architectural conservation which frequently focuses on the notion of permanence and monumentality. By playing with the architecture's ability to exist over various temporalities and presenting these elements as formal elements over various scales in relation to the buildings in which they are contained.

It aims to question the location of the conserved architectural essence of heritage spaces and opening up these heritages to the negotiated event-space which is occupied by inhabitants of Huddersfield. The Piazza Centre has hosted a plethora of cultural events ranging from exhibitions to craft workshops to theatre. The Temporary Contemporary Initiative occupied vacant retail units in the Piazza Centre with a range of community led initiatives in a visible location to help promote the integration of arts and culture within the town centre.

The drawing occupies the ephemeral spaces captured within the photogrammetry studies of the Temporary Contemporary units and creates a new ephemeral spatial mapping of the Piazza Centre.
